I’m Galih Richardson, half British and was born in Indonesia. I now live in London and am a photographer, art director and ex-musician. I love London for its diversity, music and cultural history. London offers so many opportunities for collaborations too as it’s packed with creative people from around the world living here. I don’t love the cold weather though!

I’m a freelance photographer/art director but I’m launching my own agency ‘Opening Hours Creative’ later this year with my team of other London-based Indonesians, which is exciting! I often shoot models & products for both global and independent fashion brands. I also do art direction for brand campaigns.

(3) Fashion and Watches:
What does a watch mean to you? How does it play a role in your daily life?
In your opinion, what do you think is the correlation between fashion and watches?

Watches remind me of my father because he used to tell me to get a watch all the time so that I could be punctual as I wasn’t really good at being on time when I was young. I remember feeling like a grown-up the day I finally got my first watch when I was in my late twenties. I don’t like people wearing very expensive watches for their status, I think watches need to be functional and I find beauty in that functionality. Also, I like watches that have vintage styles to match most of my outfits.

(4) Description of CASIO Watches:
How would you describe the style and features of CASIO watches?

For me, CASIO reminds me of being at school in 1990’s, like the one I’m wearing today. I think CASIO used to be futuristic but these days the brand has been producing timeless designs for all ages.

Which city do you reside in, and what do you love about it?

Nick: We live in East London; Hackney Central to be precise.  We live and work at our shop, workshop and home at 7A Sylvester Road.  We’ve always loved living in East London, we love the people, the parks, the markets, and the amazing ecosystem of small business like ours that thrive here.

Barbara: We design and produce workwear clothing and accessories. We also run the State of Nature shop, where we sell our products, along with a focussed selection of other handmade goods from our friends with craft businesses.

Feel free to talk about your work routine and any unique aspects.

Nick: We’ve only just moved into our new premises on Sylvester Road.  There’s the shop on the ground floor where I spend most of my time. Then there’s the state of nature workshop on the first floor; Barbara’s domain. And we live in a small flat on the top floor with our dog and two cats!

(3) Fashion and Watches:
What does a watch mean to you? How does it play a role in your daily life?

Barbara: Running a business as a husband and wife team can be complicated and stressful.  We’ve learnt over the years of working together that planning ahead is very important. We start every day with a morning meeting, prioritising our tasks, dividing up work and time blocking the jobs that need to be done.  Our wristwatches play an important role, helping us to quickly check if we’re on schedule or running behind.

In your opinion, what do you think is the correlation between fashion and watches?

Nick: From our point of view, the link between fashion and watches is military. We take a lot of inspiration from military clothing and accessories. And there are some amazing innovations in watches made for aviation. We have actually produced a number of hand stitched watch straps with crown covers inspired by WW2 pilots watches. In fact I’ m wearing one right now around my Casio analogue watch, which has become my “workhorse” watch to wear around the workshop as it’ s pretty much indestructible.

(4) Description of CASIO Watches:
How would you describe the style and features of CASIO watches?

Nick: There’ s such a broad variety in Casio watches. But personally I love the style of the G-Shock watches. I think we’ re all surrounded by technology every day, and it can be frustrating how delicate these gadgets are. Casio watches are a refreshing change in that they have a sense of advanced technology, but also strength and durability. I thought Casio did a great job with product placement putting Chris Hemsworth in a G-Shock for the film “Extraction” . That watch goes through two hours of intense action and survives, which gives you a feeling that this little electronic device is a military grade bit of kit.

Barbara: Watches are close to our hearts. Nick proposed to me with a watch fitted with hand stitched cordovan strap he made. Keep making great things Casio!

Which city do you reside in, and what do you love about it?

Hi, I am Weiren Jheng.
I am a photographer/Videographer living in New York City.
I love things that challenge me a bit, out of the box and out of my comfort zone trigger me to solve.
Ex. New tech equipment for shooting or New position that I have never done before.
I usually skated and did tons of outdoor stuff when I was 20s, but I learned to become calmer after getting lots of scars.
I see New York as a magic city, if you know who you are, you can be anyone you want here.
I have never lived in Toyko for a long period, but I think it’ s similar in some ways.
On the other hand, you get distractions flooding you every second and feel drowned when things get messy.

In my opinion, the most important things are always communication and coordination no matter what position is, we are here together because we want things to be good.
Standing in others' shoes can change everything in the bigger picture.

(3) Fashion and Watches
What does a watch mean to you? How does it play a role in your daily life?
In your opinion, What do you think is the correlation between fashion and watches?

A watch means you value time wisely, and the lifestyle of efficiency, it’ s a statement piece for me.
I always wear a watch when I have to present myself in public.
In my opinion, the watch nowadays is a symbol of fashion accessories, we don't really need it for daily life when everybody has a cellphone, but we choose to wear it to emphasize our personality.

(5) Celebrating CASIO's 50th Anniversary
With CASIO watches marking their 50th anniversary, do you have any blessings or memories related to CASIO watches to share?

I was obsessed with the CASIO’ s watch when I was young, I had a watch with a game on it, and the watch had a calculator. It’ s not handy but it’ s one of the kind that you can’ t find anything like that now.
One of my dream watches that I can’ t afford is the one with a thermo scanner, I think it is called TSR 100.
I don’ t know what I gonna do with the scanner, it is just so eye-catching.
For me, they were so cool and unique that I had to figure out how to bidding with people on the internet, or find a purchasing agent to get it from Japan. Tough but treasured memories.
Happy 50th anniversary CASIO!

(3) Fashion and Watches::
What does a watch mean to you? How does it play a role in your daily life?
In your opinion, What do you think is the correlation between fashion and watches?

To me, a watch is essential in doing work, because I have to set up alarms and do work while on the go. When I was younger, I often wore a CASIO G Shock. While I am right-handed, I actually wore my watches on my right hand because it was easy to check the time while drawing.
Watches are a big part of fashion, especially in the summer because your arms are exposed. And because I draw, my hands are often visible. When taking photos, I enjoy it when you can see my rings or my watch because it feels more personalized.

(4) Description of CASIO Watches:
How would you describe the style and features of CASIO watches?

For me, CASIO feels like a bridge between the past and the present. I’ ve always used CASIO’ s electronic watches, which make it sturdy and convenient for kids and adults alike. It’ s a watch that looks good through the passage of time, and I think that’ s the biggest appeal and charm of CASIO.

It’ s great to be able to use CASIO again after having used them when I was in the military. I hope CASIO continues to move forward as it has always done.

My name is Nadia Park and I am a coffee creator and barista currently residing in Yongin, South Korea, originally born and raised in America.
As an avid messenger of positivity, I make sure to build strength through exercise, travel, and translation while honing in on my coffee skills through roasting and brewing to share with the online and offline community.
I love that Yongin is actually a bit away from the city center‒just the right amount of busy and quiet. There are also a lot of coffee shops that you can really only get to by car, and it’ s fun being able to discover and travel to those hidden gems.

I am a coffee creator, someone who uses coffee as a medium to emit positive energy into the world. As a barista, roaster, and content creator, I focus greatly on developing skills in all aspects of coffee to provide high-quality and delicious coffee in various forms to people in person while also using the online world to provide not only educational content, but a means to break the stiff wall of supposed superiority in the technical world of coffee. But the topics I tend to speak on stretch beyond just coffee, and into touching upon waking up people’ s dormant dreams.
While being active as a master in the craft of coffee itself, the platform that I have created online allows me to express coffee in aspects different from the traditional idea of coffee as difficult and confusing. Additionally, being able to build communities not only within this industry, but across industries is where I find immense value and how I believe I can make an impact in this world. All from the start of a cup of coffee.

(3) Fashion and Watches::
What does a watch mean to you? How does it play a role in your daily life?
In your opinion, What do you think is the correlation between fashion and watches?

A watch is non-detachable from my body. Ever since I knew of the presence of watches as a child, I wore them (since 3rd grade of elementary school).
Based on my outfits, the activities, I would change watches, as it was my favorite accessory that I could mix-and-match. Clothes were second to my watch because throughout the day, I constantly would consciously look at my watch, but of course, not as much with my outfit. And therefore, to my eyes, my watch would have to give me not only the time, but also the visual pleasure and satisfaction whenever I did look at it. It gave me a sense of pride, especially since I was one of the few kids in town who started wearing watches.
Now, as someone who both does hand drip coffee, films videos, and runs a business, the focus put on my hands and wrists is inevitable. Small details, close-ups are a part of my life, and therefore, actions, my fashion, and my watch are intertwined as a single moment in everything I do.

(4) Description of CASIO Watches:
How would you describe the style and features of CASIO watches?

Conventional yet unconventional. CASIO watches are able to withstand harsh situations but also have a timeless design for all ages. And for someone who likes to be able to immediately recognize and tell the time when I look at watches, the mix between digital and analogue make it simple and easy to do so.

(5) Celebrating CASIO's 50th Anniversary:
With CASIO watches marking their 50th anniversary, do you have any blessings or memories related to CASIO watches to share?

It is an absolute honor to be a part of CASIO’ s 50th anniversary. Being a part of many generations’ memories is precious and an inspiration to many. CASIO watches were also my first timers and stopwatches and being able to be a part of CASIO’ s journey is now engraved as another record in my memory.
