World’s first digital watch with an automatic calendar function
Casiotron (QW02)
Hitting the scene in 1974 as the very first wristwatch Casio ever released, the Casiotron eliminated the need for monthly calendar correction with its automatic calendar feature. Until then, at the end of a shorter month (a month without a 31st day), users had to manually adjust the date on the watch's calendar from the 30th to the 1st. The Casiotron eliminated these manual adjustments except for the end of February, when the number of days changes on leap years. Later, Casio delivered a fully automatic calendar watch that even correctly displayed February 29 during leap years. Casiotron: a name to be remembered as the point of origin for a half-century of commitment to the ongoing evolution of digital technologies.

The watch’s black and gold color scheme expresses the Casio devotion to craftsmanship inspired by the thrill of making something from nothing. The gold color used for the bezel, logos, and other elements, combined with the sophisticated look of the dial and dial ring, creates design that makes it easy to read the time and delivers a luxe textural appeal.
Stainless-steel band with two-tone finishing
Separate hairline and mirror finishes give the stainless-steel band a sophisticated textural appeal. As a special design touch, a single gold-color link stands out on the otherwise black ion-plated band, evoking the first flicker of light that ends the darkness. The link is also laser engraved with “50th ANNIVERSARY.”
Special case back design commemorating the Casio Watch 50th Anniversary
The case back employs special design features that identify the watch as a genuine anniversary model. These include an engraved “CASIO 50th ANNIVERSARY” mark encircled by 0’s and 1’s to express the Casio devotion to craftsmanship.
