Discovering New Perspectives: Privia, a Piano that Inspires You to Play
"BEAMS" was born on the vibrant streets of Harajuku back in 1976. Fast forward to today, and they have grown into a leading global fashion retailer with around 160 stores worldwide,. Hiroshi Doiji, the Senior Creative Director at "BEAMS," attributes its success to the unique charm of Harajuku.
"Harajuku, nestled between Shibuya and Shinjuku in the sprawling city of Tokyo, is a place where Japanese culture intertwines, making it a creative melting pot of ideas. It's a blend of laid-back living and energetic creativity, making it a one-of-a-kind town that heavily influences Japanese fashion and culture. At BEAMS we strive to embody that essence and to become a brand that is synonymous with Japan."
This idea of different cultures converging to create something of worth resonates deeply with Megumi, who has international experience as an actress and producer.
"The process of creativity isn't a solo endeavor. It's about collaborating with a diverse range of people who share their individual passions, resulting in a fusion of ideas that transcend cultural borders and helps give birth to something entirely new. Those moments in the creative process are what drive me."
Despite their busy schedules, both Megumi and Hiroshi place high value on finding moments that give them a sense of fulfillment.
"Work throws unexpected challenges at us every day, but the sense of accomplishment you feel when overcoming those obstacles is unparalleled. Though I'm drawn to undertaking demanding tasks, it's helped to make me who I am. That's why in my personal life, I like to appreciate the simple pleasures in life, like taking the time to brew homemade soup or decorating my home with my favorite flowers," shares Megumi, which prompts Hiroshi to add, "Every day, I try to reflect on what makes my life truly fulfilling."
“Even when I’m in the midst of a hectic schedule, I make sure to think of moments like, ‘Should I enjoy a delicious cup of coffee today?’ right after waking up. It's about creating a mind set for even the smallest of things and seeing them through, like reading a book to learn something new. These are the types of moments that help us to appreciate life.”
Their attention then shifts to the nearby Privia PX-S7000.
"Taking moments to center oneself amidst the chaotic demands of daily life is crucial. I believe the piano offers a wonderful way to help soothe the soul," remarks Megumi.
Hiroshi is known for his discerning taste when it comes to home décor and notes, "When family, friends, or work partners come over, there's always that desire to showcase ourselves through the items that we hold dear. The design of the Privia PX-S7000 is really captivating and so it's something you want to show off. It's elegant, tells a story, and is incredibly appealing in terms of its design."
As their fingers caress across the keyboard, it evokes thoughts of a piano being at the heart of a fulfilling lifestyle.
"I can imagine having the Privia at the center of a room, surrounded by friends, playing and chatting away, enjoying drinks... these are the types of scenarios that come to mind," says Hiroshi, who expresses a newfound desire to play the piano after discovering the Privia PX-S7000.
"To me, the beauty of items that become part of our lifestyle goes beyond their mere utility. It's about how they enrich our lives.” expresses Megumi. “With Privia, it's not about a feeling of obligation to use it; it's about how it makes you feel inspired to play. And I think that is the essence of what makes a musical instrument truly valuable."
