Privia and the Evoking of Sensations: Crafting Born from Authentic Comfort"
"It is my life’s work to travel across Japan every year, capturing the fleeting beauty of cherry blossoms through my photography," smiled Mika Ninagawa, a versatile artist in a number of mediums such as photography and filmmaking.
While immersing herself in creative activities, Mika stresses the paramount importance of "approaching each piece of work or task with sincerity." She elaborated by saying "Alongside personal creative ventures, I also deal with a number of commercial projects. However, I endeavor to remain true to my creative emotions regardless of the project. I have accumulated about 30 years of experience since my debut, and I strive for a level of sincerity in every endeavor I undertake. While many people often inquire about my motivation for continuing, creative pursuits are a natural part of my life; to the point that I become so absorbed that I often lose track of time, even within the comfort of my own home."
Mika has achieved international renown, and frequently encounters opportunities to interact with the unique essence of Japanese creativity. She observed, "Creative works originating from Japan undeniably exhibit a distinctiveness that is rooted in Japanese culture. Concepts like 'Wabi-Sabi' and its opposing element, ‘Miyabi,' embody aspects of Japanese creativity that are revered globally. It is also easy for me to discern the Japanese essence that is evident in the meticulousness attention to detail that is synonymous with Japanese craftsmen".
Reflecting on her first encounter with the Privia PX-S7000 piano, Mika reminisced, "Upon discovering the 'Harmonious Mustard' yellow color, I presumed that it must be one of many among various different color variations available. However, I was surprised to find only three colors: black, white, and the Harmonious Mustard. The unusual selection of colors available for the piano sparked my curiosity. Nevertheless, upon closer inspection, I realized that this unique color choice allows it to seamlessly harmonize with its surroundings
Mika's interest extends beyond the only the color choice but to the design elements of the Privia PX-S7000. She remarked, "It's intriguing how the materials are utilized and combined. Even the fabric used for the speaker section seamlessly complements interior decor... Moreover, there's attention to detail even in often overlooked areas like the back, which is uncommon in traditional pianos. The overall aesthetic of the Privia reflects the developers' dedication and accumulated mastery of craftsmanship.”
Mika believes that being true to yourself and embracing one's individuality can lead to a more fulfilling lifestyle.
She says, "Striving to lead a mindful life doesn't guarantee happiness for everyone in the same way. Lately, I've been doing Pilates not because it's trendy or that everyone else is doing it, but because it feels right for me. I think leading an enriching life comes from living everyday in a way that aligns with your own individual values."
For Mika, spending time with her family is also an essential part of her life.
"Lately my oldest son is really into playing the bass, and he's always practicing at home. Even though I jokingly complain about the noise, I love seeing how much he enjoys it. It seems like his enthusiasm has rubbed off on my younger son too; as he's developed an interest in music as well. They are always telling me about the latest music trends. And they are genuinely interested when I introduce them to songs, which is refreshing and leads to come great exchanges at home. Music just naturally becomes a part of our conversations.”
Mika emphasizes cherishing the small things in life that help you experience emotions, leading her to perceive both work and daily life as being interconnected. "Understanding that seemingly mundane moments in daily life can still fuel creative endeavors, I aim to uphold my own personal sense of comfort. Whether discussing music with my family or appreciating the scenery during a leisurely walk, these seemingly small moments are invaluable miracles to me."
