Privia 20th Anniversary Showcase in USA

Celebrating Privia’s 20th Anniversary in New York

New York is known for its unique blend of culture, diversity and as a developing hub for art, music, and food. On September 25, in Brooklyn, it played host to the “Privia 20th Anniversary Showcase in USA.” This special event was held to commemorate Privia’s 20-year long journey, and featured speeches from Mr. Tomo Kato, President of Casio America, and Mr. Yosuke Nagayama, Head of Casio’s Design and Development Division, who shared their insights into Privia’s history and the characteristics that make it unique. The event attracted significant attention from the media, especially due to musical performances from pianist Mr. Hayato Sumino (aka Cateen), and American musicians Mr. Jon Regen, and Ms. Laura Clapp Davidson.

Hana House was the venue for the showcase, and it offered a sophisticated setting with its industrial vibe combined with modern amenities, which perfectly complemented the on-stage Privia PX-S7000. Mr. Nagayama introduced the story behind the design of Privia, and shared concept designs and prototype visuals that captivated the audience of media and industry experts in attendance. “This was a unique approach and something that hasn’t been seen from other manufacturers—it was truly intriguing,” remarked some of those in attendance .

Next up came the musical performances. Kicking things off, Ms. Laura Clapp Davidson performed her song “First Shade of Winter,” which features a Privia piano in the music video, with it set against a scenic, ocean-view rock-face. She shared, “I wanted to play on the rocks overlooking the ocean, and since it wasn’t possible to bring a grand piano, Privia was the perfect choice.” Next, Mr. Jon Regen spoke about his experience with Privia, saying, “The rich sound quality and resonance really amazed me, it felt just like an acoustic piano.”

Finally, Mr. Hayato Sumino took to the stage, with an energetic performance that captivated those in attendance, the richness of his sound receiving rapturous applause. “I want to connect on a deeper level with listeners and share these emotions with them,” he expressed. His commitment to continual evolution of his musical performances resonates with the spirit of Privia’s, creating a strong sense of connection between his music and the philosophy of the instrument.

He reflected on Privia, noting, “I love the slim design and high-quality sound. It’s an instrument that effortlessly integrates into your living space, while offering a truly rewarding musical experience with its distinctive characteristics. This is a unique approach that hasn’t been done before. In the same way that Privia continues to push boundaries as a lifestyle piano, I also want to keep challenging myself.” With Brooklyn acting as the electrifying backdrop for this “Privia 20th Anniversary Showcase”, we also promis to bring this unique celebration of Privia to locations worldwide in the coming months.
